CDM Practice Test

Anyone in foodservice supervision eyeing a step up, especially in healthcare or senior care. If you've handled menus or safety checks on the job, this builds on that—many states now mandate it for dietary leads, per CBDM standards.

Pick one of five paths: 120 hours of ANFP-approved classroom training plus 150 hours supervised practice, or an associate's in a related field with equivalent experience. Military vets often qualify faster. Submit transcripts via the ANFP portal for review. It's all about proving you're ready for real-world application.

The exam covers five domains:

• Domain 1. NUTRITION - 20%
• Domain 2. FOODSERVICE - 22%
• Domain 3. Personnel and Communications - 20%
• Domain 4. Sanitation and Safety - 24%
• Domain 5. Business Operations - 14%

The exam is offered year-round at hundreds of PSI testing centers throughout the United States. You choose your preferred date and location when you schedule after your application is approved.

The official ANFP CDM Study Guide, the CBDM Exam Content Outline, textbooks on foodservice management and clinical nutrition, the current FDA Food Code, and Examsdr practice tests that follow the same scenario-based format as the real test.

Review the CBDM content outline, study all five domains, complete at least 200-300 practice questions, time yourself on full-length practice tests, and focus extra time on any weak areas shown in your practice results. Most successful candidates study 4-8 weeks.

Many states and healthcare employers require or strongly prefer the CDM credential for dietary manager and director positions. Certified Dietary Managers typically earn $52,000-$65,000 per year depending on location and years of experience.

Not reading the entire scenario before answering, selecting an answer that sounds reasonable but is not the best practice according to regulations, and poor time management. Practicing full-length timed exams reduces these errors.
