MoGEA Practice Test

Missouri no longer requires the MoGEA as a state-mandated entrance exam for teacher education programs. However, individual schools may still require this exam, so you should check with your specific program.

The exam includes four subtests:

• Reading Comprehension and Interpretation
• Mathematics
• Science and Social Studies
• Writing

You'll need to demonstrate competency across all these areas.

You must pass the Reading Comprehension and Interpretation, Mathematics, and Writing subtests. The Science and Social Studies subtest is no longer a testing requirement for admission, though you can still take it if you want.

The Reading Comprehension and Interpretation subtest has 39 multiple-choice questions, the Mathematics subtest has 40 questions, and the Science and Social Studies section has 40 questions. The Writing section requires you to write one essay.

Yes, you can. Candidates may register to take each subtest independently. This flexibility lets you focus on one area at a time if you prefer.

Electronic devices, including cell phones and calculators are not permitted. However, you'll have access to a periodic table during the exam for the Science and Social Studies section.

Because of the breadth of the examination, you shouldn't study for the MoGEA the way you do for a test in a specific course. If you've successfully completed a typical lower-division course of study, you should be well-prepared. Focus on Examsdr MoGEA practice tests and reviewing fundamental concepts.

This testing requirement may be waived if you have already completed an educator prep program or are already licensed in another state or country. It may also be waived for those obtaining initial certification through a graduate-level program.

The deadline for registration is no later than 2 business days prior to the desired exam date. Registration is open year-round, and scheduling is first-come, first-served.
